Whether I am sure or not right now, all I know is I keep finding myself back at the site staring at this so we will have to see!

Are you serious?! Just recently I bought the Ambient Lighting highlighting palette and as I was contemplating I said “I really wish it was a blush palette.” Turns out I love my other palette so it worked out for the better, but I am most certainly going to have to get my hands on this!

I am borderline obsessed with my Naked Basics, easily my favourite palette. Easy for travel, so versatile and so buttery. So I have been back and forth on getting the 2nd version since they seem so similar…but they AREN’T similar, and why not get something you know you are absolutely going to love!

I also definitely would have gone for the Draw the Line and the Lash Stash as well but…I recently bought those! haha

So those are what is on my wish list (so far!) Looking to be a good Christmas! haha What is on your wish list from Sephora’s value sets collection?

Sample Sunday!

It’s that time of the week to try out some samples and give you guys some feedback! This week I tried a more deluxe sized sample, so I was able to give it a few tries through the week to get some better insight.

The most successful sample verdict I’ve ever had:
Address: Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask

Original Price: $51.00

How I got sample: A Sephora employee packed me a deluxe sample to try.
s1450899-main-hero-300
Assess: I went into Sephora a couple of weeks ago with the sole intention of looking for a product for the under-the-skin bumps on my forehead. The sales representative suggested two things: the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads, and the Dr. Dennis Gross Clarifying Sulfur Mask. Due to both it’s hefty price and that I wanted something more on the regular, I opted for the First Aid Beauty pads only, and she told me to test out the mask and see if it helped.

Well, after using the pads for a little over two weeks, I noticed the bumps were finally coming to the surface — aka I had full blown acne. Soooo I figured I’d test out the mask! Putting it on before bed, I used it more as a spot treatment and put it on on the troubled areas.

I could not BELIEVE what a difference it made! The pimples had gone down significantly. So I tried it again the next night…and the next night (last night). They are still there, but almost gone. The great thing is, since I am using it more as a spot treatment the sample she gave me will last me forever!!

Will I purchase I full-size of this sample?
Absolutely. This is the first thing that I have noticed making a dramatic difference for the issue I need — and you need so very little product at a time, it seriously last forever. Next time I am in Sephora, I will own this awesome product!

Sample Saturday!

Sooo with shopping more than the average person — comes more than average sample options! Doing some cleaning, I’ve noticed I’ve been tucking away far too many in drawers, but never throwing them out because I want to give them a try.

With that, I introduce Sample Saturday! Each weekend I will test out at least one sample (hopefully more) and do what I do best — address & assess!

For this week I sampled:

-Fossil’s 1954 Perfume
-Her Styler Hair Serum
-Dior Pore Minimizer Primer

Address: Fossil 1954
nd.27057

Assess:
Regular Price: $60
Received sample from: Boyfriend bought me a Fossil necklace for our anniversary, came with it.

Yummmmm yum yum yum. Is what I have been saying when I put this on! This perfume has notes of rose, ginger, mandarin blossom, heirloom flower petals and white freesia — that gives it a totally unique scent of light yet sexy femininity. It is totally delicious without being either too strong or too sweet.

Would I purchase?
Yes/no. Yes if I led a lifestyle a little wealthier (I actually don’t think $60 is TOO bad for a high end brand perfume) and wore fragrance a lot. Ultimately it is a no because my work is fragrence-free, I would only wear it for highly special occasions — so it just wouldn’t be worth it to me.

Address: Hair Styler Argon Oil Hair Serum
Regular price: $49.95 (Amazon: $14.99)
Received sample from: Kiosk in a mall in Toronto

31S6BA6Xc+L._SY355_
Assess: I legitimately didn’t think I would like this product as much as I did! Instructed to put it in damp hair for sleek and softness, and dry hair to protect split ends, I can’t stop touching my hair today since it feels so incredibly soft and has such a beautiful shine.

Would I purchase?
There’s a part of me that still holds onto the fact that I will soon discover a great hair serum at a drugstore price, so for $50 I’m gonna hold off on this product. HOWEVER, seeing it for $14.99 on Amazon is extremely tempting and I just may be doing that.

Address: Dior Pore Minimizer Primer
Regular Price: $42.00
Received Sample From: Online order to Sephora
s1572874-main-hero-300

Assess: Funny enough, at the beginning of this week I just automatically assumed I’d love this sample and that it would be the other two that were up in the air. Dior just knows how to do it right. So no shocker, I loooove love love this primer. My skin looks so smooth and beautiful when I wear this, I feel like an elegant porcelain doll. Pores are gone, imperfections smoothed away. Love.

Would I purchase?
Even though I knew I’d fall in love with this guy, I already knew this wouldn’t be something I set my sights on for a full size. It is just too expensive for what it is. Benefit’s Porefessional remains at the top of its game, for a tad cheaper. I can say that I would love to take another 100 samples of this off of Sephoras hands though!

UPDATE: First Aid Beauty’s Natural Radiance

ADDRESS: First Aid Beauty’s Natural Radiance
s1529585-main-hero-1
Recently made a visit to a Sephora, where I was recommended First Aid Beauty’s Natural Radiance Pads for every day use. Ever since I stopped using birth control I cannot seem to get rid of the under the skin bumps on my forehead and they drive me insane! I was told that these pads reach 6 layers down, and if anything has a chance at getting them, its this.

ASSESS: Having dry/sensitive skin basically all my life I was worried about the lactic and glycolic acids as well as the use of lemon being harsh for my skin, but was told this is actually made for those with sensitivity and having used over two weeks worth of pads, I can see that is the case.  I use this every night in replacement of a toner and have no irritation, and it doesn’t dry me out.

While I do think the bumps have decreased….they are still there. I work in a setting that has harsh lighting so I can really see it at work more so than at home. As mentioned, I am only halfway through the pack so we will see if they further decrease in two weeks.

I love how gentle the pads are, and after wiping down my entire face they are still completely damp and have a lot of product left. They really do get any leftover makeup, leaving my face feeling really clean without being stripped.

What I am most impressed with so far is really the “radiance” of my skin. I really feel my skin looks more vibrant after using this.

So verdict halfway through: enjoying the product for reasons I didn’t expect (brighter, clearer skin) but still holding onto hope it will help with what I got it for in the first place (under the skin bumps on forehead).

“August” Favourites!

So I realized I’m pretty late on the whole August favourites type post, so I was originally planning on skipping it…but then I thought, reading everyone else’s favourites are the posts I most look forward to, and it’s my blog so…..heck, why not?!
IMG_5077
August was my “this is the last of summer so live it up” month, and my favourites revolved around that.

I tried to wear bright colours (loving on the mint and coral) and show off my tan as much as possible. Heading out of town for a wedding, I got these gorgeous bangle bracelets ON SALE from Aldo Accessories, and I have gotten compliments on them every time I wear them. I am just obsessing over coral, mint and gold right now so any outfits I can wear this with you know that I am!

Tarte’s Lights, Cameras, Lashes Mascara
Next, I picked up the Lash Stash pack last month from Sephora (most amazing deal by the way) and have been using Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes…and am obsessed! I have been asked twice if I am wearing false eyelashes. I love how much volume it is giving my lashes, but not clumpy or spidery like Too Faced’s Better Than Sex can sometimes do. Still in love with my Too Faced mascara, but am loving Tarte’s for work.

Revlon Nail Polish — “Teak Rose”
I’ve mentioned before I am a sucker for Revlon nail polish. I just think it has amazing colour payoff, dries fairly quickly and doesn’t chip, all for a great price. I recently picked up Teak Rose and I am IN LOVE. It is a fairly warmed toned dusty rose, that is an absolutely gorgeous colour without being too dramatic. I have so many outfits that go with this polish and I know it looks delicate and pretty and chic!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette
I actually almost returned this in the first week I got it…if I lived near a Sephora, I would have. I just did not think this was doing anything for me, and after experiencing Laura Mercier’s highlighter, I wasn’t sold — especially with a price tag like this palette has. But I continued to wear it, and it continued to grow on me….and now if I forget to put it on in the morning, I really notice that glow from within look is missing. It just gives the skin an overall beautiful glowy look — thats totally natural looking. My favourite of the palette is by far the middle shade, Incandescent.

Smashbox Eyeliner
With recently picking up Sephora’s Draw the Line eyeliner value set, I figured I should probably use up other liners I have first (I am a liner hoarder, I will admit) so I have only begun to use Smashbox’s black crayon eyeliner…and I love it! Great colour pay off, and I use it on the waterline and it sticks all day. I often veer away from wearing crayon liner at work for fear of panda eyes, but this stuff stays put!

Shopping Haul!

Soooo…I may have spent quite a bit of money this weekend. Makeup, clothes, flats, a necklace, anniversary gift…..here is my Toronto visit shopping haul!

The visit to Toronto was to visit potential apartment options since my boyfriend is about to move to Toronto for a job. Sidenote: yes, I am extremely sad we will be long distance for a while…however, I have to think of the positive, and  I am excited his career is moving forward. It also means an excuse to visit Toronto more often!

So, we stopped at Yorkdale mall where I did some mad shopping.

From Lululemon I bought:
Power Y Tank
LW1A53S_0001_1
Yes, it looks like a plain black tank top that we all know since its Lululemon, was pretty expesnive. However, my justification is that I LOVE Lulu tanks for working out, it breathes, it has a built in bra, and is incredibly comfortable. Lulu has my favourite workout shirts, as well, it can double as an undershirt for every day wear too!

I was actually pretty disappointed in Banana Repulic. I have been loving their office wear lately, and that was the one store I wanted to make sure I went to. However, I didn’t really find anything I loved, and I am already debating on returning what I bought.
cn8147486-1
While I like this shirt well enough, it was quite expensive and frankly, nothing special enough for its price.

cn7978808
This dress actually goes knee length on me, which is actually pretty hard to find and required at my work. While I do really like the dress, it isn’t currently super flattering on me. I got it in hopes of motivating me to shed a few pounds, but now I’m worried even if that happens I still won’t find it flattering and I just wasted a bunch of money. Also debating on returning when I go back to Toronto.

From Sephora:

s1634906-main-hero-4

Then I headed to H&M, which I always know I will have success in! haha
hmprod-3
Not usually a huge fan of rouging, but I think I will enjoy wearing this around the office.

hmprod-4

hmprod-5
The blazer was more cream coloured that I got than pictured above.
hmprod-7

hmprod-6
hmprod-8
hmprod-9
From Tristan:

And those were my purchases! Like I said, I think a couple of things will be returned….also, it wasn’t lost on me that basically everything I bought was either black or white (haha) but I feel those colours are always work appropriate and can be matched with standout pieces.

Sephora Visit

While my trip to Toronto was mainly for apartment viewings for my boyfriend, I was able to talk him into allowing me to visit my favourite store Sephora (and a few…okay, a lot of others! haha)

Sephora was a quick visit since I really do have more than enough makeup for the time being. I have a backup, a second backup, and often a third backup of everything I possibly need right now.

So I went into the store with a problem I needed help with….ever since I went off of birth control about six months ago, I have had under the skin bumps on my forehead. Ugh. They aren’t acne….no, because acne you can fix. They never fully come to, and I’ve found it impossible to do anything about!
s1529585-main-hero-1
Discussing my problem with a Sephora skin specialist, she recommended First Aid Beauty’s Natural Radiance Pads to be used in replace of a toner. While at first I was worried since I have sensitive skin and the lactic and glycolic acids along with the use of lemon peel sounded harsh for my skin, she let me know this product is actually designed to be safe for those with sensitivity. She let me know it is suppose to reach 6 layers down, and if anything could reach those bumps its this.

Soooooo I purchased the smaller package and have decided to give’r a try! Any of you tried this product? Has it worked for you? I’ll be putting it to the test and once I am done the 28 pads I’ll write a review!
